TBVAC are a group dedicated to vaccinating badgers throughout Devon. We have more than 50 active volunteers; vaccinators, trainee vaccinators and sett surveyors. This year we have trained more badger vaccinators thanks to support entirely by the public, to add to the people we trained in 2013. We have a wide range of experience of working with livestock and wildlife, and many of our volunteers have worked in wildlife rescue and rehabilitation or are trained ecologists.
During 2014 we have been getting as many vaccinators trained as possible, as the AHVLA (the government badger vaccination training provider) may not exist in 2015, and as far as we know 2014 has been the last year when training could be provided. We now have nearly a dozen fully trained badger vaccinators spread across Devon, with as many again wanting to train.
We are gathering funds and equipment in order to begin our vaccination program in the summer of 2015 however we have many individuals trained in sett surveying ready to begin surveying land for badger activity in the spring. We have several farms wanting their badgers vaccinated and we would welcome many more.
TBVAC are in need of various pieces of equipment such as more medical fridges and cage traps, and we have a TBVAC wish list on Amazon for the smaller items such as Peli cases. http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/registry/wishlist/ref=cm_go_nav_recip_wl?ie=UTF8&cid=A2E1LDTASG5DMT
Please help us to roll out badger vaccination across all of Devon.
